The International Broadcasting Conference is one of the biggest OTT & Broadcasting conferences in the world.
From the 14th to the 18th of September one of the biggest conferences for broadcasting, the IBC (International Broadcasting Conference) took place in Amsterdam. As OTT streaming was a hot topic this year at the conference, we from Strive CDN presented our innovative and disruptive solution for OTT live streaming and had intensive talks with a lot of interesting players on the global OTT market.
But let us go back to the start. One day before the conference started, four members of our team arrived in Amsterdam. Including the CEO Alexander Schäfer, CTO Christopher Probst as well as two members of the Sales staff Bastian Brandau and Alexander Loer.
The plan was as simple as it was important. As we arrived the next morning at the fair, we were absolutely overwhelmed by it’s size. The 50th anniversary beat the attendance record attracting more than 57,000 attendees from 170 countries around the world, exhibiting more than 1,700 of the world's key technology suppliers and showcasing a debate-leading conference. The queue at the entrance alone was about 3 miles long and it would have taken hours to get inside normally - but we wouldn’t be StriveCDN, if we hadn’t find a way to get in faster.
Once we got our name tags, we started immediately with our first meeting. As arranged at Dmexco conference in cologne, we met with Brightcove, one of the world's leading videohosting platform. In an inspiring conversation about the future of OTT live streaming, we agreed on many aspects like searching for the most effective resources to optimize and revolutionize the sector as the top priority.
The rest of the day was exhausting but also very successful. A lot of OTT content providers were very interested to get more information about TrafficBoost and were positively surprised, how easily they can integrate it in their system. We got a lot of business cards with the request for our dossier and follow-up calls.
The next day started with Alexander Schäfer meeting a principal consultant of Caspian One, a international recruitments firm with high expertise in broadcast technology. But no worries - Alex will remain faithful to StriveCDN. The meeting had its focus on enlarging our network. It was pretty successful by the way. Expect further details on that in the near future. In the meantime CTO Christopher Probst and Bastian Brandau had a long conversation with AppearTV, a leading provider of end-to-end OTT solutions.
At the evening we were invited to participate in the exhibition stand party of RIEDEL Communications, one of the world's leading manufacturers of cutting-edge products for high-bandwidth signal distribution, communications and data transport. Riedel and StriveCDN are in touch for quite a bit, as they both are in the broadcasting market. Even the offices are in the same area.
Beside establishing new business contacts in the OTT business sector, it was really interesting to see other technologies like the newest features of Virtual Reality and the 8k TVs as well. Furthermore our whole team can recommend Amsterdam for a weekend trip, as it combines a lot of culture with fancy nightlife.
All in all StriveCDN is more than happy with the IBC. We gain a lot of new experience and got in touch with potential business partners and customers. We are all looking forward to the IBC 2018, but first we are ready and excited to participate in the NAB conference in Las Vegas (7th-12th April).
